2. Written by Lynnette, on 17-01-2008 15:37 I look forward to being part of a group that goes way beyond just another social gathering. I like being social, I just want to be social about reaching lives for Jesus. I'd definitely recommend this class to singles. Even if one does get involved initially for the social aspect, wow, look out for the unexpected, awesome benefits. Account Manager - Employee Benefits Consulting Firm |
3. Written by Kiki, on 17-01-2008 15:39 I do not want to be a mediocre Christian. This class is going to challenge me and help me become more like Jesus! I want my one life to count. I want to help change the world! I recommend this class to other singles who are interested in using their one life to come together with other like- minded singles and make an unforgettable impact on others! There is going to be great music, food and fellowship that will encourage you. One thing you can count on...You will grow and learn if you come and you will have fun doing it! It is also in a great location for singles from all over the greater Seattle area.

4. Written by Eric, on 17-01-2008 15:40 This class teaches me how to have Christ-centered friendships, relationships and most importantly, based on what Hutch said, a Christ centered life. I have already recommended it to a couple of my best friends and will be recommending it to others as I am able. Why? Because this is what I have been looking for in a Bible Study/Group. I truly believe this will work and is what Christians have been looking for. One other thing - if any of the married couples or leaders would be interested, having further bible studies outside of Wednesday evening for developing the questions and "curriculum" as we progress would also allow for deeper development of relationships. 5. Written by Catherine, on 17-01-2008 15:41 I am a 40 yr old single who calls Antioch my church home. I am so excited about Encounter. I attended the first fellowship last Wed. Eve. It's hard to find a place in the church as a single person. Everything seems geared to families and college age. There seemed to be a good cross section of ages Wed. Eve. I didn't feel like it was all really young people. There were people in their 20s as well as others in their 40s and 50s even. I love that Hutch is teaching the class, because I think it will draw a lot more people. He is a busy man and I so appreciate him taking the time to be leading something that has been so overlooked at most churches. I have friends that go to other churches who want to come be a part because they don't have and active singles group at their church. I love that all are welcome. Airline Attendant |
6. Written by Tricia, on 17-01-2008 15:43 It is a bit premature to tell you what this class means to me but I can tell you what I hope to gain from it. Hutch mentioned that there are a lot of lonely singles in the world - no doubt this is true. That is not my story, I have ample quality social events that include Christian family and friends. I would however, like to meet more single, Christian men. Hutch is also big on "bring food" - this is not high on my list of needs/wants but will contribute because he feels it is important. Below is a casual list in no particular order: * Personal growth in my spiritual journey. * Fellowship to compliment Sunday church with similar age peers - a bit apprehensive regarding the broad age range, will have to see how this plays out. * Hutch leading a smaller group (vs. church on Sundays) to better understand him as the leader of the church. * Opportunity to participate in a weeknight class as opposed to weekday and/or weekend (preference) given the demands of my professional schedule. , on 31-01-2008 12:02 I've really been enjoying the Encounter so far, and I'm excited to see what Hutch is doing to reach the singles in our church and in our community. Not only does it give us an opportunity to connect with other singles that we otherwise might not meet, but it gives us something that our demographic really needs, which is to be challenged in our walks with God and be reminded that God calls us to be obedient to Him and to be His ambassadors in the world. Hutch's comment that our "greatest commitment is not to be committed" is definitely something that I can relate to from personal experience, and being around other single adults who are really good examples of Christians with a heart for serving the Lord can really encourage me in my walk. Plus Hutch is always a great teacher! I'd also like to say that the two times I've hung out at TGI Friday's afterwards have been awesome! I've met new people each week, and we've had some great conversations where we get to know each other on a personal level. I hope to see this as an ongoing thing! |
8. Written by debra Cardinal, on 10-04-2008 17:12 Hi brothers and sisters.I am truly excited about this class on how not to do church.I think especially in our society today it is easy to get out on a limb and initiate our own ideas about how we think church should be done, after all we live in a very self absorbed world.I seek the ultimate truth in my walk with Jesus and I will settle for nothing less. This is a perfect opportunity to impact our world the right way in one accord. It's exciting that we can do it together as a group of singles as we do have more time than families and married folks, well I guess at least some anyway.I look forward to learning together and getting to know my church family.Deb cardinal |
