Antioch is thankful for its diverse volunteer teaching staff: multi-gender, multi-ethnic and multi-generational in its structure. And the commitment level of many of our staff is outstanding: some have taught faithfully in Children's Ministry  for all of Antioch Bible Church's 16+ years!

teacher100_0422.jpgWe are team based for the safety of all, as well as for relationship building among staff and students - we are sharing Christ's own relationship with us! And a full team is needed for sharing the task at hand: that is, to provide a safe environment for training our children to know and experience God's work, God's love, and God's purpose to make His Name know to all people. Classes, therefore, have teacher-student ratios according to the ages of the children. (i.e., a three-year-old class has one adult staff member for every three children. We are not a childcare program.)

Our teachers are interviewed, fill out a ministry application complete with references, their testimony, and answers to questions regarding social life style beliefs. A police background check is run on every person in Children's Ministry. It is not necessary to be a member at Antioch to serve; however, we desire to see accountability to grow. Security badges are issued to identify staff who have completed this process.

As we are not about child care but educating and training our children, a monthly leadership and training meeting is provided for ongoing staff accountability for growth, support and input. Coordinators also are available within each age area to come alongside staff on a weekly basis, providing evaluation, help, and guidance. There are no "lone rangers."

Youth ministers age twelve years and above are allowed to submit applications with a signature from their parent or guardian showing their approval, AND the recommendation of a Youth Pastor. Obedience to authority is required in our reference checks of these young people.
