Nursery Director

A Note from our Director!!

My first thought of being Nursery Director scared me into a near
paralyzed state. I imagined the prefect person for the job with all of
their amazing qualities...and I did not fit the bill. All I could think of
was all of the qualities that I did not have to do an effective job. I felt
like Moses talking to God and telling Almighty God reasons why he
could not do the God-sized work He wanted him to do. (Genesis 3)
"Who am I that I should be the Nursery Director and follow after
Cheryl and Donna?" "Suppose I step into the position and fall flat on
my face?" "What if people do not choose to help in the Nursery and I
have to close classes and turn parents and children away?" (So my
initial response was a resounding, "No, thank you. I'll pray for the
right replacement."

Now, I realize that God using Moses to deliver over 1,000,000 people
and livestock out of Egypt is an amazing feat on an entirely different
level than running/managing a Nursery of 100+ adults and 150+
children. Yet to me, the Nursery is a God-sized work. Requiring Him
to faithfully give me everything I need to be an effective leader.

Over a short time, the more I prayed and studied His Word, the more
God began to change my heart. God began to encourage me to
simply trust and obey. He took away the fear and replaced it with
faith when I changed my focus from me to Him. He reminded me of
His caring, comforting Word of Proverbs 3:5 & 6, to trust in Him with
all my heart and not lean to my (limited, short-sighted)
understanding; acknowledge Him in all I do and He will make my
path straight. I was reminded to place my faith in Him, believing that
my God who called me will help me. I learned that when God gives
me an opportunity to join Him (no matter how little or great the task
may be) it is so He can do His work through me.

I was relieved of the weight of not being ‘good enough' to step into
this opportunity that was presented to me. I did not have to have all
the ‘amazing qualities' of the perfect Nursery Director. Better yet,
God did not require them in order for me to serve Him in this way. All
He needed from me was a heart full of faith, willing to serve Him and
to trust and obey Him. I can confidently obey Him now. I can
confidently step into this position as a Nursery Director ready for God
to reinforce my skills and qualities and equip and use me for His
glory.

I truly believe that God wants to continue to grow the Nursery upon
the foundation of Cheryl Johnson and Donna Lewis. God used their
gifts and talents to bless this ministry in innumerable ways.

Did you know God wants to use you too! Come learn with me.
Come serve God along side of me. Let's build together, supporting
parents to teach their children about God, His Holy Word, Our Lord
Jesus Christ; and facilitate helpers to be graciously used by God.
