Children's Ministry Registration- (ages 3 before Sept through 6th Grade)
Awana Registration

All students entering Antioch Bible Church’s Children’s Ministry programming either preschool age (three year olds through Kindergarten) or elementary age (first grade through sixth grade) must complete a yearly individual student information registration form. This form is filled out once a year and applies to all visitors, and members alike. As phone numbers and addresses change often, as well as the addition of new arrivals in families, this provides yearly updates if ABC is your Home Church with 3 copies: one for the student’s classroom, another for ABC’s data entry, and another for the Sunday School Registrar—our on site back-up for emergencies.

This allows us to know who is worshiping with us on a given Sunday providing us with each visitor’s vital contact information in the event of a medical or facility emergency evacuation. As a visitor you WILL NOT be added to ABC’s data base until you let us know Antioch is your choice for a church home. No further registration is needed at the time of your decision; just a verbal notification to your child’s/children’s Greeter Teacher/s will complete this process. But you do need to share the news!

Fall is our initial group enrollment or registration coinciding with the beginning of the school term. This is usually provided in individual classrooms at the onset of the 10 month Children’s programming. After September, all registration for both preschool and elementary age students is completed at the Registration-Information Table located in the main hallway off the Commons. If your child’s name does not in turn appear on a printed classroom data roster, or if your child does not have a hard copy registration form on file in his or her individual classroom, your Greeter teacher will ask you to return to the registrar’s table and complete the form or rectify the error to complete our classroom Safety Policy Information.

PLACEMENT:
We do our best to accommodate your child at the developmental level of learning that is uniform to their weekly education be that home school, private or secular. An exception to that might be if you were teaching a class and you wanted your child with you.  Also students in an academically accelerated program noted by the school or home school program, may be placed with their developmental age.

MATRICULATION:
All Children move forward each year according to the school calendar setting in September. This keeps relationships between peers constant, and a “home” classroom during the summer months of vacation and erratic attendance. It is hard to contain the excitement of “graduation” and a new grade until fall; but we have found the positives for this transition benefit every one. Note: Some parents do choose to hold Children in a Preschool or Elementary grade to allow for maturing of social or academic skills. Please confer with your teaching staff. We are glad to accommodate that decision, whether you choose to keep the same classroom and teaching staff the next year, or choose a different session of the same level with different teachers.

PRESCHOOL MINISTRY:
Children who turn 3 years of age before September 1 are invited to join ABC’s Preschool Ministry. Preschool at ABC also includes our Kindergarten classes. Nursery children from ABC’s Blastoffs who turn 3 after Sept 1 are invited in March to join the Preschool Ministry in the DYNAMOS class.

ELEMENTARY MINISTRY:
Children in First through Sixth Grades are in ABC’s Elementary, which correlates with most of the school districts in our area.

FRIENDS:
Children are grouped within a friendship circle of children the same age or grade level. With two sessions of classes that circle may be smaller than your student’s or your desires. They may have to choose one buddy vs. a group but we will make every attempt for each child to have at least one special friend of their age or grade level in their classroom.

SIBLINGS:
Desiring to leave older siblings with a younger child, to comfort either child in transition usually just delays the adjustment period for whom ever is your concern. Classrooms are developmentally appropriate with activities and tools or toys geared to a certain age group. Older Siblings can use these inappropriately and/or cause danger by being too aggressive with them or other students. They can answer all the questions intended to get younger ones to affirm their understanding, or their presence can disturb another young child who then in turn wants their sibling with them. This short term solution often doesn’t solve the problem of allowing your child to work through and build new relationships with a nurturing staff and new classmates i.e. problem solve.

GUESTS:
May attend one class session of a friend or relative of a different age or grade as a one time visitor. After that the visitor will need to attend the class of their level or age. When ever possible choose to visit the class of the relative/friend closest to the visitor’s age.
