A STUDY OF GIDEON:
HOW TO BE A LEADER TO OVERCOME IMPOSSIBLE ODDS

  • As you watch the news, does it seem like God is winning?
  • Does it seem like God’s people, the church, is overcoming evil?
  • Do you see churches coming together to unite and lock arms to overcome a fallen and sinful world?
No matter how bad things look, nothing is ever too big or so bad that an almighty, sovereign God cannot overcome the evil around us. And our God will use any man who lives in obedient submission to Him.

3 THINGS THAT MUST HAPPEN TO BE AN OVERCOMER

  1. You must overcome your greatest fear and make it your greatest asset.
            a. Gideon’s greatest fear was not the Midianite army.
            b.  His greatest fear was his father and his family. Judges 6:27 – “because he was too afraid of his family (father) and the                       men of the town.”
What kind of man could you be if you took your greatest fear and made it your greatest asset?
  • the fear of your wife?
  • the fear of co-workers’ approval?
  • the fear of God not providing for you or your family?
If you can overcome your greatest fear what is left to fear and worry about? What is left to keep us from trusting God completely? Nothing. For Gideon, it was obeying God, standing up to his father, killing his father’s bulls, and offering them as a sacrifice to God. What is the one fear that keeps you from obeying God? Recognize it today, and offer it as a sacrifice to God.
