Elective Classes meet for a limited time period and study specific Bible books or Bible-related subjects. They are designed to meet particular needs and to fill out one's knowledge of the Bible and theology in specific areas. Some of the electives are designated "ISG," indicating that they are strongly recommended as building blocks for anyone wanting to progress in their "individual spiritual growth" plan.
Electives are offered on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, and less frequently, on other evenings or as weekend seminars.
Here are some of the elective classes that are offered periodically at Antioch. For the list of classes currently offered, click here:
* Cross Training I * Cross Training II * Cross Training III * Theology * How to Understand the Bible * Bible Survey * Worldviews * Love and Respect * Science and Scripture * New Members * Getting Out of Debt * Financial Wisdom and Practices * Parenting Classes - Parenting Ministry |

Individual Spiritual Growth |
Here's an unusual survey – you don't have to fill anything out, or answer any questions out loud. You just have to read it!
Are you satisfied with where you are in your spiritual growth and maturity? Are you satisfied with your current level of knowledge of God's Word? Are you satisfied with your ability to answer questions about the Bible and theology? Are you satisfied with your current ability to minister? Are you satisfied with the depth of your current relationships with fellow believers? Are you satisfied with your current ability to teach? To lead? To counsel? Are you satisfied with your current prayer and devotional life? Do you believe that a person should make at least as much provision for his/her spiritual growth and development as for his/her professional career development? Physical development? Social development?
Now here's the "kicker" question:
If you are not happy with your answers (or with the survey!) what plans have you made for being further along in your spiritual development two years from now than you are today?
This is where the Individual Spiritual Growth (ISG) plan comes in. We encouraging each other – every adult believer who calls Antioch their church – to complete an Individual Spiritual Growth Plan. This "ISG Plan" or "ISG Profile" is simply a chart that displays, over the next two years, what you are going to do to grow spiritually. It will show what Small Group involvement you will have, what Adult Classes or studies you will take, what Service/Ministry assignments you want, and what your plan is for Personal Prayer and Bible Reading, OVER THE NEXT TWO YEARS. You will complete this chart with the help of a teacher, pastor, lay elder, deacon, or small group leader, who will help you figure out what classes, ministries, and small groups are available and appropriate for you to maximize your spiritual growth.
We are all at different places in our spiritual journeys. The genius of this plan is that none of us has "arrived" and we all have further to go – so we can all participate! There are a number of Small Groups of different kinds in place, and a number of elective classes available, and more are on the way. There are some classes we want everyone to take, or to demonstrate competency in. There are other classes that fit some people, but not others. There are many different ways to conduct personal devotions. And, of course, there are innumerable ways to serve God with our differing spiritual gifts and situations. Not everyone can serve all the time, or be in a class all the time. That's why your ISG Plan will be a very personal plan; it may fit you and no one else. It must be YOUR plan. We just want to help you make it, and help you carry it out!
If you are part of a small group, you will eventually have the opportunity to fill out an ISG plan. A preview of the chart is available by clicking here: ISG Chart
We are praying that God will help you plan and carry out some wonderful steps to take you further on your journey toward Christlikeness! |
