Children's Ministry Includes Preschool (children who turn 3 by September 1) thru Kindergarten Elementary (1st thru 6th Grade) Antioch's Children's Ministry exists to assist parents in training and evangelizing their children to Christ and in establishing them in a growing relationship of His grace and knowledge. This is not child care! God's Word specifically holds parents responsible for their children's formal and informal spiritual training; i.e., Deut 6:1-9, and Psalm 78.1-8. We do not want our families to be deceived into delegating this right, this joy, and this freedom we have to another-the "church." For we all are the church and responsible. Children's Ministry is a privilege provided weekly by committed volunteers. Weekly Sunday Morning Classes REGISTER YOUR CHILD Preschool: ABC preschool is for children who turn 3 by September 1st through Kindergarten. All student visitors and yearly matriculating student’s registration is at the Children's Ministry registration site at the middle building entrance. 9:00 AM Weekly Sunday School: Classes by grades for ages 1st through 5th grade. GAP (6th Grade Sunday School) Week after week, Sunday school teachers across America bottle feed their students a steady stream of lukewarm, watered down, Jesus-loves-me-this-I-know, cookies-and-Kool-Aid Bible teaching that is sweet on the tongue but wears off before the child leaves the classroom. As a result, a recent study shows that 2/3rds of all kids in evangelical churches have mentally "checked out" by the time they reach the 8th grade. In Theology and Apologetics for 6th Graders, our goal is to teach your children how to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength by 1) demonstrating why the Bible is trustworthy, 2) teaching them how to think critically, 3) how competing religions stack up against the Bible and 4) to get you, the parents, involved. Homework is issued on a weekly basis, and it's often difficult. If you're ready to be involved in your child's spiritual growth and have a desire to grow along with him, then this is the class for you. Sure Foundation Choir REGISTER YOUR CHILD11:00 AM Learn music and share at outreach events each semester. This is an opportunity for your child to hone talents and develop new skills in the art of worship. Here at Antioch we feel this is our most balanced children's program, as it is the program where we have had the most young people pray to receive Jesus as Lord. Worship prepares the heart for putting confidence in God, Psalm 78 says! The word "AWANA" is an acronym for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed", taken from II Timothy 2:15 - "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." The heart of the AWANA program is Bible memorization. Club consists of council and handbook time, as well as organized games. Children earn awards and recognition for completed sections in their handbooks, and for cooperation within their assigned teams. AWANA meets at the Kirkland Seventh Day Adventist School in Kirkland on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00pm. Awana Registration Contact Person: John Peterson |
