In February 2017, Taryn Marshall began serving with Africa Inland Mission (AIM) having a 3-year commitment as part of an evangelism/discipleship/church planting team among the Karamojong people who are located in Karamoja (northeast) Uganda.

Historically the Karamojong are a people-group who have been marginalized and ignored. An isolation brought about through their reputed fierceness. They are a religious people, believing in spirits and many gods. Primarily they believe in a supreme god, but this god is mysterious, not personal, and is responsible for bringing evil into the world as well as good. They are still waiting to discover the transformation that life in Christ can bring.
