Tonya was born and raised in Seattle, Washington; home to Starbucks, Microsoft and the land of “partly cloudy with a chance of rain”.
While attending the University of Washington studying Communications, she was introduced to missions. It was on this first trip in 2007 that her Journey to Greece began. After studying abroad and serving four short-term stints in various regions of Greece, her heart was lead to serve full-time with a Christian non-profit based in Athens. Once accepted as a full-time missionary with Hellenic Ministries, she made way to Greece in February of 2013.
While Tonya serves in various capacities, her primary focus revolves around her position as Assistant Director of Development for The Good Samaritan: a medical and social center for refugee women and children. Tonya pulls from her administrative background working in the medical field and youth ministry to create, develop and organize clinics and programs including laundry services, clothing and hygiene product distributions, English and Greek classes, childcare, meals, and Bible study and discipleship opportunities. Tonya hopes to continue contributing the skill sets, gifting, and talents the Lord has equipped her with to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the people within Greece.
