Each year God provides us with challenges to demonstrate His Sovereignty, faithfulness and mercy!  On Saturday, October 6, Sarah was competing in her first ultra-marathon (running 31 miles up and down mountains) when she suffered cardiac arrest.  In the hospital, she was put into a drug induced coma for 24 hours (to lower her body temp to 91 degrees).  After 24 hrs, they let her body begin warming up.  This usually takes 3-4 hrs but after 1 ½ hrs her eyelids fluttered and by 2 hrs she was trying to pull the tube out of her mouth.  She was released from the hospital the following Wednesday.  All the doctors, nurses, paramedics, and firemen were amazed at her recovery. She now has an ICD (implanted cardiac defibrillator) and is on some heart meds.  She's back to limited running and can't drive for 6 months, so bought a bike.

God timed everything and everyone "to the minute" to save Sarah's life.  On the day of the race, a fireman running in the race checked on her and told her to go to the aid station next to the road, where Sarah's friend's wife offered to drive her down to meet me in the Starbuck's parking lot, where she called 911.  When the paramedics arrived, they couldn't get a blood pressure reading and the minute she got into the ambulance she arrested.  They saved her life in the Starbucks parking lot.  Sam just happened to have a work training week down here so was able to be with us.  My niece, who's an ER doctor just happened to be in town from Boston and was also able to be with us.  We had lots of people praying for her - even had a friend who told us that our family had been on his heart for several weeks and had been praying for us!  We're so glad he listened!  We have much to be thankful for.  Many people keep telling her God has something very special for her to do - we couldn't agree more.

My daughter was told to bring her favorite book to school one day and she chose “God’s Little Princess” by Sheila Walsh.  The teacher was okay with it being read.  My little one life daughter shared with 24 other students and her teacher.  On these “special” days they have at school, there are always students absent.  She likes to tell me that her day was the only time the whole class was there – which was God’s doing so that each student could hear her favorite book!
