What they do

Jonathan Rainey serves as the Chaplain for the Seattle Seahawks. “Whether working one-on-one, with teams, or speaking to a room of thousands of listeners, I always speak from the heart and look for ways to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and different walks of life.”

who they are

He was born in Tupelo, MS and is the Grandson of 2 Baptist Pastors.  He came to faith in Christ through his mother at the tender age of 8.  He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga where he double majored in Pre-Med and Accounting with a minor in French. It was at Morehouse where he received his call into full time ministry. He played football for Morehouse where he was a three-year starter and the defensive back of the year his junior season. It was during this time that his passion for God and serving people grew. He no longer pursued a career in medicine or business but one in serving God by ministering to athletes.

He has obtained his Master of Biblical Counseling and his Master of Divinity and is a Certified Exchange Life Biblical Counselor. He has served as chaplain on the campuses of Georgia Tech and Ole Miss before coming to Seattle.

His greatest accomplishments are his relationship with God and finding his wife Cynthia Sim Rainey. Jonathan and Cynthia have two children together, Josiah Victorious Sim Rainey and Arabella Amari Sim Rainey.

Jonathan has a passion for God, discipleship and growing the Church. His motto in life is to be “obsessed with God and passionate about people.”
